Well... here we go!
The Richardson family is on the move! Our townhouse just really isn't working for our family anymore. It's difficult because Quincy works from home, and it is imperative that he have an office. There are several things that just aren't working out at this point. Anyway, we bought this place before the absolute peak of the market, but we are still underwater in the mortgage. Selling is not an option for us. So, we are going to rent! We've talked to our bank, mortgage company, etc., and they've all advised us that this is our best option. We are building a wall/door/closet in the loft area to enclose it and make a 3rd bedroom. The place will be available March 1st!
We've been advised that after renting for a year, we would establish that this is no longer our primary residence, and rental income will become an asset for us. We could then attempt to get another mortgage, find an awesome foreclosed home, and never, ever move again! :) Some of this may be a long shot, so just be praying with us.
In the meantime, we are moving in with my parents. This is pretty humbling for us, but we are very thankful to have somewhere to go. After all, it's a bit of a risk to rent your home to a stranger. While living with my parents, it is much less risky. We'll have plenty of room and time to save some moolah. I'm nervous about the lack of independence and inconveniencing my parents, but hopefully it will all work out.
Please be praying for us! If you have extra boxes, we'll take them off your hands! :) Also, this is going to limit my craftiness for awhile, so don't hold your breath for new projects!
If we did not have 2 kids and a dad who works from home, we could probably make it work here; however, that's not our situation. So, if you know someone who's looking to rent, let us know! The place was built in 2005, so it is in nearly-new condition. It has 3 bedrooms and 2.5 baths, and a 1-car garage. We have great neighbors, a sweet family on one side, and a couple of snowbirds on the other. We're actually breaking a streak in our neighborhood because we're pretty confident that our building is the only one still occupied by all of the original owners! The neighborhood has a park and a swimming pool. All outdoor maintenance is handled by the HOA, which would be included in the rent. We hope to have the door/wall/closet completed by the end of this week, and then we'll start aggressively advertising.
Thanks for "listening!" :)
